We Are All Going To Die – Steve Jobs

In this excerpt from Steve Jobs’ Stanford University Commencement Speech in 2005, 1 year after he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, Steve Jobs reminds us that life is short and we are all going to die. Remembering that we are all going to die motivates us to live each day to the fullest.

Working at a retirement community, I am faced with death on a regular basis, with 23 deaths in just the last quarter. I am reminded every day that life does come to an end, sometimes very unexpected, and how vital it is to:

1. Remember what really matters
2. Do what you love
3. Be grateful
4. Live in the present moment
5. Be kind

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most importantly, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” ~ Steve Jobs
