The Power of Positive Thinking – Achieving Your Goals

What if someone told you that everything you wanted in life was possible? The perfect job with the amazing salary you’ve been longing for, the dream car you’ve always wanted, or the vacation you wish you could take. All of these dreams can come true when you adopt the right attitude and start thinking positively!

What exactly does it mean to think positively?

Positive thinking is when you look at the bright side of things, you anticipate happiness, success, good results, health, and try to find the good in any situation. Positive people believe that they can achieve their goals, overcome any obstacle, and that they deserve happiness. The secret to life’s success is to adopt positive thinking in everything that you do!

How does it work?

In order to achieve goals through positive thinking you must follow a few simple steps:

1. Focus Your Thoughts, Set Specific Goals

Focusing your thoughts and setting goals is the first step to getting what you want. The goals you set must be extremely specific so you can get the desired results you are looking for. For example, if you want a new car, think about every last detail. You must say to yourself, I want a black 2014, Audi, Q5, with black leather interior, heated seats, moon roof and wood grain. This may sound silly, but if you started manifesting that you simply wanted an Audi and then a 1985 red Audi with rusted doors shows up in your path, will you recognize that you manifested this through the powers of positive thinking? Probably not, you most likely wouldn’t even make the connection that the power of positivity brought this classy hunk of junk to your driveway. So set goals and be specific!

2. Believe in Your Goals

Part of seeing is believing. In order to get what you want, you must believe and align your thoughts with what it is you are dreaming of. You must believe that you deserve this goal, that it is coming to you and that it will actually happen! One way to set goals is to spend time visualizing them in your mind. You can do this through meditation or just taking time out of your day to think about what it is you are hoping for. See yourself driving your new car or on your amazing vacation. Another way is to write down your goals. When you think about or write about these goals, speak of them as if you already have achieved them. For example, if my goal was to get a new teaching job at a specific school, I would write down… I am so happy now that I am the new 6th Grade English Teacher at Connecticut Middle School. I am so happy now that the principal has called me and offered me the position. I am so happy now that I will be starting on August 25th, 2014. I am so happy now that I will be making a salary of, enter specific number here… etc. The mind is a powerful tool and with a positive attitude you can help make your goals into a reality.

3. Work Towards Your Dreams

Part of positive thinking is setting goals, aligning your thoughts and actions with your goals, and the third important part of positive thinking is working towards your dreams. Thinking positively and believing you can obtain your goal is extremely important, but without hard work your dreams will not come true. When you open your mind up to positivity and begin to set goals, the universe starts to open up doors for you. The universe gives you opportunities to make these dreams come true. You must take these opportunities and dedicate yourself to the work necessary to achieve your goals. Many people may miss the opportunities that are given to them. But that is the beauty of positivity, if you continue to believe in what you want, opportunities will continue to come your way. As long as you continue to focus your thoughts and believe the universe will never stop giving.

4. Say Thank You

Remember how Momma told you to say please and thank you? Well guess what, she was right! It is important to be gracious to the universe and acknowledge that your prayers have been answered. Whether you believe in a god, angels, or just the power of positive thinking, it is always necessary to show gratitude and give thanks to the greater powers that helped manifest your dreams. By saying thank you, you acknowledge that your goal has come true, something or someone has helped you to achieve it, and you are setting yourself up to be helped again with the next goal you want to accomplish.

It is important to remember that focusing your thoughts in order to achieve your goals cannot happen unless you follow all four steps.
