The Power of Pineapple, Juice Recipe and the Truth About GMO Foods
Everyone seems to be talking about GMO’s and Monsanto. How do you know exactly what foods are genetically modified? In this juice recipe you will find some tips on which pineapples to stay away from and some information about which companies are genetically modifying foods. ¼ Pineapple, combination of core and pineapple chunks (If your juicer can handle the rind, you can put that in too.)
½ Large beet
2 Handfuls kale
1 Whole lemon
1 ½” Ginger, peeled
2 Whole carrots
Optional 1 tbs. chia seeds & ice cubes

The leading role in this juice goes to pineapple. Pineapples are full of antioxidants. They are great for your skin and improve skin elasticity. They also help to hydrate your skin. Pineapples help to support against age-linked eye problems. So grab a juicer and throw some pineapple in for a sweet and healthy treat.
Pineapple is one of my favorite fruits. I always make sure to keep a pineapple in my home. Organic pineapples can be expensive. Whenever you don’t want to spend the money on an organic pineapple there are some tricks you should know about on how to pick a pineapple that is healthy for you. Stay away from pineapples that’s rind is pinkish color. These pineapples tend to be more genetically modified than other pineapples. Brands like Del Monte and Dole are working on GMO fruits and vegetables. While Del Monte says they are currently “testing” their GMO Rose pineapples and not distributing them, it is something to watch out for. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has approved the GMO Rose pineapples grown by Del Monte in Costa Rica and may or may not currently be on the shelves in the USA. Dole and Monsanto have also announced a “collaboration agreement” to help “enhance” various vegetables. This five year agreement means there will be many new developments on vegetables such as cauliflower, spinach, lettuce, broccoli and who knows where the list stops. Support your local farmers and always try to buy local foods, supporting companies who genetically modify their foods is never a good choice.
